Base Leg – A flight path at right angles to the landing runway off its approach end. The base leg normally extends from the downwind leg to the intersection of the extended runway centerline.
Welcome to The Base Leg Aviation Photography. I am a Singaporean photographer specialising in photography of aviation subjects with a slight bias towards military aviation. My love for aviation started when I was about 6 due to the numerous aviation literature that was found around the house, courtesy of my father. I started hanging around the approach path of airports in 1996 with my trusty Nikon FM2 film camera and Tokina 70-300mm lens. Since then, I have moved into the field of digital photography, with the Canon EOS 1D Mk III as my primary body. Currently based in Melbourne, Australia, my aviation photography portfolio includes covering Republic of Singapore Air Force Open Houses for Air Forces Monthly (1999, 2003 and 2011), being part of the official photography team for Asian Aerospace 2006, as well as Ex Cobra Gold and Avalon Airshow for Alert 5 Aviation News (both in 2009). The works for some of these events can be found in the Published Works section of this website. All images on this website are copyrighted.
